Father Daughter Dances. A date with their Daddy.

The girls recently had dates with their Daddy.
I am overwhelmed when I think about how much this means to them..

Kenzie & Daddy.
It was rainy, but that didn't spoil the fun, just the pictures.
and for the record, I am THRILLED our school does this.
Dad's- take it, this chance is precious!
 Couple weeks later, it was the littler girls turn. Abbie looked so lovely in this white dress.
And she could not wait to get Daddy on the dance floor!

 Little Miss Madeline. She loved the pearls Momma picked out for the dance...that's my girl.

 a sweet little girl & her man.
 Daddy & his girls!
Isn't this precious? Oh Abbie how you love your Daddy, and I am so thankful he loves you just like you need him to. This makes my heart full!

tissue. WHO KNEW!?

I realized the other day that part of my blehhh mood was because I hadn't spend a single minute being creative.
Now, that may be up for debate as things have been crazy busy around these parts and accomplishments have been made, however this is a different thing all together.
Somehow, baking or crafting or [new to me] sewing are very much mood enhancers when done without necessity. Not required baking, just because baking. Or not to mend something but....fabric in hand & just create something. This makes me: calm. er.
anyway..
I decided to try something new.
Tissue.
As in tissue paper.
Oh lala it made a ruffle!!!

Here's the "slide show"
of how to..
I think the possibilities are endless in application
and surprisingly simple to make
 simple silver tissue paper.{left over from a pack of Christmas tissue from Costco}

 so about 4 inches folded into 2 inch

 put just the tip under the foot so you can pinch a little fold and scoot it thru the foot.

 after this first fold, its much much easier to pull the paper from behind the foot instead of feed it thru the front.

 keep her coming!! and next thing you know, you've got a ruffle!!

 made a couple, then sewed them together to make it longer, easily hidden in the pleats

then I just sewed a strip of ribbon along the line of stitches, this made it much more "structured"
and Oh lalal I love it!!

when Daddy is a chef.

When Daddy is a chef this is not unusual.
the words "Can I help!!?? Please"
ring from awaiting sous chefs that bail on legos & dress up
 to peel chop and stir  up Mirepoix
{carrots celery onions}
that begin the meal...
&
another thing that might happen is something like this gets placed in front of you as you watch.
Now before you think I'm spoiled to bits, any "restaurant widow" will tell you, we don't see much of em because people like to have dinner out, well....
in the evenings
and on holidays.
so there's a bit of give & take...now back to Daddy chef.
Little Miss Madeline, we call Muffin
was first responder.
and since this is a "delicate matter" only one sous would do
{p.s. if your new to Chef-Lingo, sous is "second in command" kinda a kitchen term for VP}

And away they went, gently maneuvering the simplicity of flour, egg, potato & salt.
Making it stick but not sticky,
getting it to form a ball but not pushing it
{ruins the delicacy.}
And as I indulged on my steamed Mussels in spicy white wine & garlic...they worked.
Just Muffin & Daddy.
Her in pearls
Her tiny hands & his big paws...
Dough formed
Him teaching & her loving every minute of having Daddy all to herself.
Now the forks, learn how to roll it off the end of the fork to create ridges for pasta sauce to stick to...

Silly little Muffin
And dinner.
Gnocchi that's waiting for a few seconds in a pot of hot water to make them irresistible!

and my heart warmed just watching them.
